With my flexible job I get to play. My dad called me up, saying that he was going on a canyoneering trip and that I was invited. I met up with him in Provo and drove down to Capitol Reef with his class. We did a hike through Sulfur Creek, camped in the park and then did Cassidy Arch. It's named after Butch Cassidy, who was an outlaw in the Wild West.
We had about a mile and half walk to the top of the canyon. Isn't the landscape just awesome? It was great weather in the end of September.
This is the first 150' rapel. You rap down the side of the arch, if you look closely you can see the person in blue rappelling.
Right after the first rap, getting ready for the second 150 footer. There were seven rapels in all.
Probably one of the cooler canyons I've done. It would be ideal with a group of 4-6 instead of 26 but hey, I got to do it so I can't complain.
